Drone Router Conditional Approvals
The FCC Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau excludes specified uncrewed aircraft systems and router classes from the Covered List because the Department of War granted Conditional Approvals for those devices.
What it does PSHSB updates the Covered List and its accompanying Conditional Approvals appendix under 47 CFR §§ 1.50002(a) and 1.50003. The newly approved equipment includes Exedy Globalparts Corporation’s Ayre CX UAS, Parallel Flight Technologies’ Firefly UAS, Calix’s GigaSpire class routers and Giga Pro, Sagemcom’s “FAST” Broadband Class of Gateways and Routers, Humax’s HNR2306 and HNRM30 routers, and Askey’s ASK-NCM300 and ASK-NCQ8000 Wi-Fi 8 Gateways. The notice also republishes the broader Covered List as of July 24, 2026.
Who it affects The exclusions affect the named manufacturers and their specified products, as well as equipment authorization applicants, testing laboratories, and telecommunications equipment businesses that rely on the Covered List. Exemptions remain conditional; for UAS, continued effectiveness depends on compliance with an approved onshoring plan and updated product vetting.
Why it matters The notice illustrates how Executive Branch national-security determinations and Conditional Approvals modify the FCC’s supply-chain restrictions without removing the underlying categories of foreign-produced UAS, UAS components, or routers from the Covered List. A Conditional Approval may end, and a device may return to the list, if required conditions are violated or the government finds false statements or misrepresentations.
